Manzanillo affords a wide variety of buying opportunities with something
to please even the most avid shoppers. As a result of its proximity to
Guadalajara-Mexico´s arts and crafts capital- there are plenty of
chances to purchaces beautiful handicrafts at excellent prices. One of
the best places to find handmade wares is at the traditional tianguis
market. All area beaches have vendors selling everithing from dresses to
jewelry. Bo Derek-style braids (trensitas) -made famous in the movie, 10
- can be put in one´s hair at Playa Audiencia ( the beach location for
10) for about US$4. Shoppers will also find authentic Mexican flea
markets with handicrafts, jewlery, handmade clothing and more in Salagua,
Santiago and Miramar. In addition to those mentioned above, here are
some of the best shopping opportunities in the area.
Plaza Manzanillo, biggest mall in town, houses Comercial Mexicana
supermarket, several clothing and handicraft so included branded names
like Nautica, restaurants, travel agencys and two banks.
Plaza Salagua, houses Soriana supermarket and some shops. Manzanillo
Market -Mercado Municipal-, a typical Mexican market, don´t miss the
opportunity to know a real market for locals where all kind of groseries,
and fresh vegetables are available.
